You are the result of the past.  Everything that’s ever occurred has led up to right now.  You experience any given moment singularly, but it’s the collective result of all history.                           

 

Time is eternally present, the passage of which does not occur separately from person to person, but always in one single, giant movement.  Your involvement, your action, causes a momentum, it sets a wheel into motion.  So you go out and must engage yourself in a world that doesn’t care about you, a world that’s “indifferent”, keeping in mind along the way the Golden-Rule.  In doing so however, you discover who & what you care about… but you must stand alone.

 

You only know what you are through relation.  That which is happening inwardly manifests itself outwardly, and although appearances can be deceiving, you literally are that which you think (the past) and that on which you focus.  While inside the line-up of the morning dawn patrol, staring down the face of a wave or a mountain - you are not separate from that thing.  And to see & experience that thing as it is, clearly & unclouded, is to live life afresh, anew; aware of, but unburdened with, the impression of time gone by.    

 

In this heightened state of self awareness with your surroundings, coupled with the silence between those vast spaces, your intense focus or determination - your “gaze” - could be labeled “Stoic”.  This philosophy can offer a way in living with the world’s harsh realities.  Or, it could be a misunderstanding of your actual frame of mind & true demeanor; but regardless, deep inside, you’re hoping & praying for the exact opposite - which aside from making love - is carving that killer wave or ripping through the new virgin powder.  This manner of expression is an action often contrary to your surface presentation, another’s perception of you, or society’s profiling & judgment of your character.  Symbolically it is anything but actual indifference on your part… & as always, you must face it alone. 

 

Still waters run deep.  Your countenance may indicate differently, but in reality, you feel things passionately & profoundly.  You attack it gracefully.  There’s more than meets the eye, which is why you go ride.  And maybe you are indifferent to the world, as it is to you, but this one release – that is your time, that is your thing.       

 

Close to the nearest point break, not far from the freshly fallen snow, Stoic Riding Company was formed in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  It’s a serious-minded company that doesn’t take itself so...  It’s for those who are totally committed to their particular passion & the art of riding – Surf, Skate, Snow, Wake & Racing. -  Est. 1999
